Our story

For years, guests at our restaurants — El Alma, El Chile, and El Chilito — would ask if we could bring their favorite dishes to weddings, office parties, and backyard celebrations. Eventually, we said: let’s make it official.

El Alma Catering was created to bring the flavor, color, and warmth of our dinning rooms to all kinds of events — big and small, formal or casual. From simple drop-offs to full-service weddings, we do it all with the same joyful spirit and attention to detail that’s made our restaurants local favorites.

Rooted in Austin and inspired by the traditions of Mexican cooking, we believe catering should feel welcoming, beautiful, and full of soul. Whether you’re planning ahead or just getting started, we’re here to make it easy — and delicious.

Our Team

Behind every event we cater is a team of people who care deeply — about the food, the details, and most of all, the experience you and your guests will have.

We’re chefs, servers, coordinators, and creatives who’ve spent years working in some of Austin’s most beloved restaurants — including El Alma, El Chile, and El Chilito. We bring that same restaurant energy to our events: joyful, professional, and built around community.

From prepping each ingredient to setting the final table, we work with intention, warmth, and respect. We believe hospitality isn’t just about serving food — it’s about creating moments that feel easy, generous, and memorable.

    Born and raised in Mexico City, Chef Alma Alcocer-Thomas brings soul, creativity, and deep tradition to everything she cooks. Since El Alma first opened its doors, her recipes and vibrant flavors have captured hearts — and appetites — across Austin.

    Mayra leads the El Alma Catering team with heart, precision, and a deep love for bringing people together. With years of experience in hospitality, she makes sure every event runs smoothly — from the first email to the final bite.
